BEFORE THE COMMUNITY VISITS

Music made
with other people.

Alongside the school Big Band and Simple Solutions, Wilson also performs with another combo. These shared stages form part of his musical journey.

The Groove Jazz takes that love of playing together into a community setting. Its first aged-care visit gave Wilson a new way to think about who music can reach.

01 / WHY WE PLAY

A room full of people.
A reason to keep playing.

It began with a jazz combo organising a visit to an aged-care home. The room filled up. Residents responded warmly and welcomed the group back.

One resident told the band that they had not expected to enjoy jazz — and found that they did.

The band received more than $100 in support for its operation. The musicians took no personal earnings from the event and still covered costs such as travel.

“这就是 music 的意义。”“This is what music means.” — English translation of the organiser’s reflection, as shared by his parent.
