These honours recognise the ensembles Wilson belongs to. The Groove Jazz is his separate community music project.
Through The Groove Jazz, Wilson has organised a jazz combo to perform at an aged-care home. The warm response helped give his music a new sense of purpose — and inspired the idea of sharing that joy with younger listeners too.

Wilson plays with the Saint Kentigern Big Band. The school ensemble is part of his musical life alongside smaller groups and his own community project.
For The Groove Jazz, playing together is central: a shared programme, a shared responsibility, and music made for the people in the room.

Four voices.
One ensemble.
In Simple Solutions, Wilson plays baritone saxophone as part of a saxophone quartet. The quartet received the National KBB Music Award in 2026.
School ensembles, chamber music and jazz combos are all part of the musical experience he brings to The Groove Jazz.

A musical conversation.
Alongside his school ensembles, Wilson has played with GRAMMY-nominated saxophonist Patrick Bartley. These musical exchanges form part of the experience he brings to The Groove Jazz.
Playing together makes space for listening and responding. The Groove Jazz brings that same invitation to its community music: share a moment, hear something new, and join in your own way.
